I'll be honest.... around 8:35 this morning, I was cursing Columbus' arbitrary holiday that most American companies {outside of the Federal Government, banks, and the USPS} forego to recognize. Actually, throw in a few curse words to the sentence above and kick a brick wall... that was my inner monolouge/actions on my way to work. Pre-coffee, might I add. {even scarier}
Thank goodness for my iPod daily "morning" playlist.
This definitely sneaks its way into my top 5 fave food truck. Not top 3 yet: that is still claimed by the Lobster Truck, Pi On Wheels, and Sauca. I need a 2nd trip to test out the Kalua Pork & Cabbage Plate... then we will see who's cuisine reigns supreme.
Crappy Happy Columbus Day!

I have an eclectic mix depending on what mood I'm in. If I don't want to go H.A.M., I can skip a few songs and reminisce of the old Blue Light days with Wade Bowen. This is the first morning I've made it through the entire playlist and then some. There was no shuttle from my apartment to the Metro, so I walked around the corner to wait for the bus. 25 minutes later, three buses for the Pentagon pulled up- all together. I joked {out loud} that they were the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria- but for some reason the people in the bus line didn't think it was as funny as me.
We finally got to the Metro, then everyone angrily sprinted downstairs to the Blue Line only to see that there wasn't a car for 15 minutes. Grrrrrreat way to start a Monday.

My day got a little brighter at 9:30 when I walked into Starbucks on the corner of 14th and New York Ave and there was one person in line. It's usually 10-15 deep, so most days I skip it and force myself to drink office coffee. But considering the short line and the fact that I was already running late- what's 2 extra minutes?
I got to work around 9:30 and had a pretty productive morning. Around noon, some of my co-workers invited me to go on a food truck mission. Yay!!! I thought to myself, "This day might not suck after all".
We walked a few blocks to 13th and G where the Hula Girl Truck was parked. I will say- the one GOOD thing that came out of Columbus day was that there was finally not a line! I've been dying to try Hula girl for a while, but the wait is usually 20-30 minutes and I'm impatient.
I was really impressed with a) the truck in general- might be my favorite...
b) the menu- while short & sweet, where else can you find a Spam Musibi?

c) Quality & taste of the food. I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Platter with Macaroni and Double Sticky Rice, then doused it with some sriracha and ginger/garlic/pepper sauce.
| Just enough sriracha sauce to clear your sinuses. Deeeeeelicious |
