You know those people who skip Thanksgiving and go straight to Christmas? Can't stand them. But I am SO guilty! Before you judge, please allow me to explain.

Because of the timing of the move, I wasn't able to decorate for Christmas, which of course caused a major void. I love routines, and it's part of a tradition for Zeke and I to drink Egg Nog, listen to Rat Pack Christmas, and decorate the tree. Ever since our first Christmas together in 2007, it's been one of the things I look forward to most around the holidays.
This year, we are spending Thanksgiving in Alabama once again, and then are leaving on December 16th to spend the last 2 weeks of the year in Houston {yay!}. But- if I wait until after Thanksgiving to put up the tree, that means we only have 2 weeks to "enjoy" the decorations. And Christmas shopping was really just no fun in 2010 since I didn't have a tree to put the gifts under {I was living in a corporate apartment in Houston}.
After seeing "A Christmas Carol" at Ford's Theatre last Friday with Michelle, I decided to take the plunge, make the hubby dig out the decorations, and start enjoying Egg Nog a little early this year. This is my version of "nesting".
I'm so proud of our little tree! Our ornament collection is coming along nicely... we try to buy one every trip we take. When I grow up, my goal is to have one tree filled with fun travel momentos, and an adult fancy tree. Until then, our 6" artificial with a hodge podge of decorations will make due ;) Here are a few of my favorites...
