1. My margarita machine came in yesterday!!! I also invested in the padded travel case and salt rimmer set... why not? It arrived just in time for our Labor Day College Football kickoff party this weekend :)
Ladies and gents, meet our newest roommate Rita!
Isn't she a beauty?
In the travel case before it's zipped
All zipped up and ready to mingle! {Rita, that is}
2. I finally changed my name.
There are no exclamation points that go along with that, either. This was one of the most frustrating, waste of time processes known to WOMAN, not man. Don't get me wrong, I love my husband and am glad to legally be a "Smith", but the process is far from convenient or working-professional friendly. I won't get on my soapbox about this one, but I will give a few pointers to any of you gals that are engaged, need to change your name, or ever plan on getting married:
- Take 2 days off work.
- Bring a book to read.
- You can't drop your first name or maiden name without a court affidavit.
- If you go by your middle name {like me}, go to the court first and request a legal name change, then wait three weeks to get the paperwork and go to the Social Security office.
- Go to the Social Security office first before you go to the DMV. Bring your passport AND license. Not one or the other.
- Social Security office employees have the worst job ever. And it shows that they truly hate every second of it.
- Bring a pen.
2 days, 4 trips, and 6 hours later- I'm happy to introduce myself as Elizabeth Kate Jerden Smith. Yep... I have 2 last names. Maybe if I can swing another 2 days off work to stand in pointless lines, I'll try to shorten it.
Also, WTH does this mean? Anyone?
Weird.
3. Today was my last day as an Inside Sales Rep :) :(
Both happy and sad about this one. I'm happy because I transferred into the Recruiting Department and am now officially LivingSocial's newest Internal Recruiter! We are growing so fast that they needed some help, and I was a little burnt out on inside sales to be honest, so it was a perfect move. So if you or anyone you know is looking for a job in DC, NYC, LA, or Seattle, shoot me an email! I'm sad because I loved my boss and team mates so much. But it's awesome to work for a company that offers options in different departments based on your strengths. I am really looking forward to my new role.
Oh and one other thing- Dr. Zuckerberg signed with me today!!!! He was my last contract in... I received it at about 4:00 today. Talk about going out with a bang ;)
And last but not least...
4. Jon and Liz are also coming in this weekend!
In addition to Kurt & Bo, Jon & Liz are spending Labor Day weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Smith in DC, too. Look out Virginia!
We have a fun few days ahead of us. In addition to our visitors, I have LivingSocial Olympics tomorrow with my new team {another post to follow}, Zeke is going to Atlantic City tomorrow night for a Matisyahu concert, and Saturday we have the 2011 Smith College Football Kickoff filled with brisket, whiskey & ESPN. We rented the clubhouse in our apartments and will be glued to the 65" TV allllllllllllllll day. Doesn't get much better than that.
Have a great weekend and Wreck 'Em Tech!!
Love,
EKJS
