Lately, I've felt like something is missing in my life.
Saturday: Zeke and I tried "mexican food" in Arlington... the only thing Central American about the food was the people serving it. Didn't help.
Sunday: I skipped a workout in the morning and slept until noon. Wait... I do that every weekend. Didn't make a difference.
Since felt guilty, I went for a run in the evening... and I'm still limping. Definitely not missing that.
Monday: Grabbed a Grande Soy Triple Shot Vanilla Latte from Starbuck's in the morning... I didn't have one ALL last week. It left my wallet $6 lighter and had the same effect as the free coffee from my office. Didn't fill my "void" either.
I'm trying to stick to the Paleo diet, so I ate a grilled chicken and butternut squash for lunch and cooked a sausage/carrot/peppers/onions/marinara dinner. That obviously didn't make me feel better.... I broke down and ate 1/2 a block of Blue Cheese and 1/2 bottle of red wine. Oh well.
Today: I re-committed to the diet for the 17th time and made a frozen fruit, coconut milk, and flaxseed oil smoothie for breakfast. Mid morning, my post-breakfast hunger set in. Suddenly, it hit me!

| I haven't tried a new food truck since May 17th!!! |
May 17th?! What is going on here? I have a few loves in life: Mr. Smith, my family, my friends, and trying new food trucks.
A woman on a mission, I shoved my Paleo intentions aside and recruited my other DTF co-worker Jules, and we went on a mission to find our next specimen. (That stands for Down To Foodtuck, by the way). Thanks to the handy Food Tuck Fiesta app, we I.D.'ed one within walking distance of the office.
5 sweaty and humid blocks later, we arrived at the KabobBites truck. Immediately, I regretted our decision.
A) There was no line. No line = No bueno.
B) They had sticky notes on the menu showing what was sold out. Sold out?! You're a food truck, it's 12:30 pm, and you have no line. Must be rookies.
C) I ordered the 3rd best sounding thing on the menu (since everything was sold out). I stepped to the right (to the open door of the truck where you normally hand "they guy" your money), and all I saw was a giant, smelly garbage can. I half-way expected Oscar the Grouch to pop out and yell "YOU WANT PAY NOW?!" Yet again... not the case.
At this point, I should have grabbed my DTF friend and ran to thext F, but we stayed. We grabbed the styrophome boxes of "kabobs", handed them the cash, and walked another 5 sweaty blocks back to the office.
THIS is what was advertised online...

And here's what I found when I opened the box:
To summarize- Don't go there. Easiest review I've had to write so far.
However, in my mission to find what was missing, I do have a few WINS to report thanks to some fabulous friends :)
1. I talked to my BFF, Tara, for a while tonight. I miss her x1,000,000. She and her hubby just bought a fab new house and have some exciting things going on... it was fun to catch up. She also sent me the link to a rap video she has a cameo in. True story! I'll post it if she gives me permission. We set another skype/drinks date for tomorrow night, I will certainly ask. Love you TT.
2. One of our filipino "cousins", Richard, is staying with us this weekend. Can't wait to do some Canlasing around town! We have an action packed weekend planned.
3. Two of our great friends, Mike & Laura, booked their flights to come visit us in a month!!! This will be their first trip to DC, so we can't wait to show them the city.
4. Two more of our other dear friends are coming to visit on Labor Day- Kurt & Bo!!! I can't wait to make some homemade pasta for my sensei ;) Kurt used to live in DC for a while, so I'm actually excited for him to show us his former hang-outs.
Mr & Mrs Smith love visitors {hint, hint readers}. Reserve your room now- breakfast and cocktail hour included with every stay :)
