Well... today sucked. Zeke and I are both really sick. I've been fighting off a cold since Christmas Eve, but it went away for a bit only to return in full force. Neither of us are running fever, but we are achy all over, have bad deep chest coughs, and can't stay awake for more than 30 minutes at a time. Zeke went to work for about 2 hours this morning and came straight home. We took DayQuil and slept all day. ... not exactly how I want to start 2011!
The one positive thing from today is that I had my intro conference call for LivingSocial. I tried to sound as chipper and alert as possible, but it was tough. My official start date is tomorrow morning at 8:30 am, so I have about 16 hours to get it together. I'm taking as much medicine as I can, hoping I can shake this cold or whatever I have.
During the call, the Training Managers introduced their selves and gave us our territory assignments... I'm the newest TeamSocial rep for Baton Rouge (Geaux Tigers) and East Valley, CA (a suburb of LA). They gave us "homework" that's due Wednesday. I have to create a spreadsheet of 60 top prospects (30 in each city) and use Yelp, OpenTable, and local publications (like the HoustonPress etc.) to find out the "hot spots" for these areas. I'll be in sales training from Tuesday-Friday, and Monday I jump in head first! I'm really looking forward to getting going, it sounds like such a cool job :) Oh- and I found out that they just installed a Big Buck Hunter machine in the break room. Was this job meant for me, or what?!
They sent us a Getting To Know You questionnaire that the new hires had to fill out last week. It had some great questions... favorite food, idea vacation spot, what celeb would you meet and why, how did you end up in DC, etc. Little did I know, they emailed our answers to the whole Sales Team this morning!! I might have censored my answers a bit more if I knew this little tidbit. For example, under "Do you have any hidden talents?", I put "I can lick my elbow". Real classy, Kate. I guarantee you I already have a nickname in the office.
I'm sure I'll have a full report tomorrow evening on how my first day goes. Fingers crossed that I'm feeling better!
