Happy New Year!

Happy 2011 from Washington DC! I hope you all had an awesome time ringing in the new year.

We have been busy here in Virginia! The last few days have been a blast since Jessica was in town. She was able to make it in super late on Tuesday, only she had to fly into Baltimore because the weather in NYC was so bad and her original flight was cancelled. So finally, at 1:00 in the morning, I picked her up. "Somehow" she was able to sweet talk the gate agent into bumping her to first class, so she definitely enjoyed the unlimited wine option, and was a liiiiiiiiiittle tipsy when she got in the car. Me... sober and jealous, drove her 45 minutes back to DC and took her to her first dining experience in the city... McDonalds!

We spent Wednesday and Thursday running errands and exploring DC's finest attractions. I took a few pics with my phone, but most of the quality Kate and Jess pics were taken by none other than the famous "stick". I'm looking forward to seeing her pics soon! But, I know you all are DYING to know what we did all week, so here are a few of my favorite shots...

We toured Ford's theater, the historic site where President Lincoln was assassinated.
Reading a book with my buddy Abe.

The Washington Monument while under construction

Booth where he was assassinated.

Upclose and personal view of the assassination spot...  he was in the chair on the right.

The world famous "Ben's Chili Bowl". This place is the equivalent of James Coney Island in Houston. And I have to hate to admit it, but I think Ben's trumps JCI. Their original Chilidog was the bizzomb!
Where the magic happens
Impressed with the beefy deliciousness!

The Smithsonian American History Museum
The original Washington Monument which was later replaced by the big tall pointy statue.

Michelle Obama's Inauguration dress

Irony at its finest!

The original Muppet Puppets.

Me and Kermit!

Dorothy's Ruby Slippers
Michael Jackson's Hat!

Sup Obama

My new friend Eddie. He's a regular at my favorite pizza place, the Lost Dog Cafe. Eddie has tried 185 of the beers that Lost Dog has to offer, and decided to do a "March Madness" bracket tournament for the best domestic beers that the restaurant carries in bottles. Jessica and I became intriuged (naturally) and got in on his game, which introduced us to the deliciousness known as Magic Hat #8. Which brings me to my next picture....

Sharing our first pitcher of Magic Hat at our neighborhood dive bar, LA Bar and Grill.

It was karaoke night!

We love Magic Hat.

It's amazing what you can convince people to do after a few beers, notice the second name on the line up. I have a video of Jess' version of the Cee-Lo F*** You song, but luckily for her the video won't upload. I'll work on it later ;)

Hope you enjoyed the pics, I know we enjoyed taking them! I also hope the awesomeness of her visit will make you want to come visit, too!

Don't forget... tomorrow night is the premiere of Bachelor! Even though it's Brad Womac (yawn), I will still plop down in front of the TV with a glass of wine & think about how much I miss my girls :(
